"I've Never Needed a CV... Until Now! Help Me!"

You thought you were going to make it through your entire working life without a CV, but you've suddenly been asked to provide one. Oh dear. "But i've never needed one before!" You exclaim indignantly.

Whether you're in your '30s, '40s, '50s, or '60s; if you're staring down the barrel of needing to remember all the details of your professional history, we don't blame you for feeling overwhelmed!

While we would love to simply swoop in and take this arduous task off your hands, we can't make something from nothing. Nope. Ya gotta give us some bare bones to work with here! Enter the skeleton CV.

When we get emails and messages from CV-less people waving the white flag of surrender, we send them the following questions to answer and return. We see no issue with making this available to the entire world, as once we get the raw data back from clients, it needs to be reworked, polished and refined to produce the final document.

So, without further ado; if you don't have a CV, and you need one made from scratch, answering the following questions is an excellent place to start! (Feel free to copy and paste the questions into a word document before sending your filled out document/fleshed out skeleton CV to us for a free quote!)

YOUR AREAS OF EXPERTISE

(i.e., Office Management, Accounting, Graphic Design, Risk Management, Relationship Management, Business Development, etc..)

List five main hard skill headings (hard skills are learned skills - things you can study/take a course in, like Bookkeeping) with more detail underneath each one - i.e. for office management; you might list the programmes you are versed with using, as well as the tasks you are competent performing.

You should also list up to five of your personality based strengths (ones that can't be taught or learned in a school or workplace. We're talking things like patience, adaptability, determination, and interpersonal skills) Steer clear of 'airy-fairy' words like passionate and honest (as these are too subjective and hard to prove/back up with facts and data)

EMPLOYMENT HISTORY (In reverse chronological order)

i.e.,     2018 - PRES       Name of company, your position

2015 - 2018         Name of company, your position

(For promotions/secondments/'acting' roles, please include an extra line which shows how long you were in that position before being promoted to another role in the same company)

For jobs as far back as ten years, you need to include a short blurb (1-2 sentences) detailing your role purpose, as well as listing 5-10 bullets detailing your primary responsibilities. Most importantly you need to list 2-3 achievements for each role (including as many specific, measurable stats as possible - i.e. increased XYZ by 56% by doing XYZ)

EDUCATION

List (in reverse chronological order) all to and from dates, plus the names of the courses and institutions where you have completed all formal qualifications and informal training courses

i.e. -    2010 - 2012       VICTORIA UNIVERSITY, Bachelor of XYZ (Majoring in XYZ)

EXTRACURRICULAR

List (in reverse chronological order) the to and from dates for all extracurricular activities you currently (or have recently) participate/d in outside of work. This could be sports teams, community groups, school involvement, volunteering, networking, hobbies (i.e. regular attendee at XYZ dance group/CrossFit club etc..), coaching, etc..

i.e.,      2017 - PRES      REDFORD COMMUNITY GARDENS, Active Volunteer

AWARDS + HONOURS

If you have received any notable awards or honours throughout your life/career, feel free to add the details here. (These awards/honours will be separate from your employment achievements)

i.e.,  2017 - Awarded a Citizens Award for Bravery by the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet
